Thermal Masking Technology


Single SLA layer testWe are delighted to present a completely new way of printing SLA models at a 10th of the cost through Thermal Masking technology which was invented in the Ilios lab. The technology is presented for the first time in our Ilios Nano SLA 3D printer currently available in the shop which can be purchased for only 250 Euro. By using Thermal Masking we are able to cut costs dramatically while still producing crisp and detailed layers while exposing them to the default 405nm UV light source.

No DLP projections, LCD screens or Laser assemblies are needed and the materials are minimized dramatically to produce the final result.

The Thermal Masking technology is explained in detail in our documentation section. We go through each step of the process and explain how this is possible under a very low price. Ilios Nano is mostly aimed at educational applications as well as low budget SLA 3D printing in DIY workshops. It was designed to be an Entry level SLA 3D printer and although very innovative, currently cannot be compared to Ilios products such as the Ilios Photon 2 which has much higher resolution and specifications.

Due to a highly affordable price of the Ilios Nano SLA 3D printer and the expected demand, please note that the manufacturing quantities will be limited. Materials used in the Ilios Nano which make the Thermal Masking technology possible although are affordable, take time to be made. As we continue developing and providing this technology in the Ilios Nano, available quantities will grow based on demand, something that will be determined based on initial sales.
